Erik Major

Raised in the US midwest in a family and school where music and arts were encouraged.

Learned piano and guitar by the age of 13, played in a folk music group, sang in a barbershop quartet, performed in an opera, started a rock band performing a show for the Colonial Hills Elementary School student body, and began playing drums in bands with friends as a teenager.

In lederhosen, as a gingerbread boy in “Hansel and Gretel” opera at Ohio State University

Moved to Olympia, Washington — studied literature, theater, music history and recording for a couple years at Evergreen State College.

Drumming with “Conifer Bog” at the OK Hotel, Seattle

Moved to Seattle. Performances and bands ranged from indie rock, to improvisation, noise, and jazz….

….expanded to include reel-to-reel tape loops, electronics and turntables, DJing, and live improvisational radio shows.

Moved to the US East Coast. Continued incorporating non-drumming interests together, such ukulele, the Hornaphone, turntables, piano, and electronics to create mixes and songs, as well as DJ’ing and producing music.

At an art gallery opening, Asbury Park, NJ
